French Butter Keeper - Bright Yellow Glaze
Wheel thrown 2 piece French butter keeper. This style dates back to the days before refrigeration ---by placing an inch of water in the bottom the butter was isolated from the air and could be kept at room temperature for quite sometime. Today this style of butter keeper keeps the smells of cantalope and the like out of the butter in the refrigerator. 4 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches wide. Footed and signed 'Rising, Las Cruces' on the bottom. The colour shown here is called BRIGHT YELLOW.
